Monster EXP
Regular monster kills award experience. Hunt in an area where enemies can be defeated efficiently and move to stronger zones as your level and equipment improve.
Progress through normal EXP leveling, then complete class-scaled Kill Exchange tasks on the journey from level 130 to the maximum level.
| Level Range | Progression Method | Main Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1–129 | Normal experience gain | Earn EXP from monsters, quests, activities, and EXP items. |
| Level 130–255 | Kill Exchange tasks | Accumulate eligible kills in approved high-level areas to gain one level per completed task. |
Kill Exchange requires your character to be second reborn and at least level 130. The maximum level is 255.
Before level 130, your character advances by filling the normal EXP bar. Defeat monsters suited to your level, complete regional quests and TaskMaster content, and use EXP rewards to accelerate progression.
Regular monster kills award experience. Hunt in an area where enemies can be defeated efficiently and move to stronger zones as your level and equipment improve.
TaskMasters and other progression content can provide experience, equipment, and useful rewards. These are particularly helpful when entering a new level range.
EXP Potions and other active experience bonuses improve the amount earned during normal leveling. Plan longer hunting sessions while bonuses are active.
Use /togglelevelhud to display your EXP-per-minute and EXP-per-hour tracker while leveling below 130.
| Imbuement | Applicable Item | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| LvlBelow130[R3] | Eligible Coat or Dress | Increases monster EXP gained by 25% while below level 130. |
| LvlBelow130[R5] | Eligible high-tier Coat or Dress | Increases monster EXP gained by 50% while below level 130. |
| CursedOne[RX] | Eligible Boots | Prevents all experience gain from killing monsters. Do not use this when trying to level normally. |
The LvlBelow130 bonus stops applying once the character reaches level 130.
Leveling speed is determined by more than raw damage. An imbuement that increases the number of monsters hit per cast can raise kills per minute dramatically, especially inside the large HealthWine and Frozen Grotto spawns. The best leveling setup combines wide coverage, enough damage to finish each monster quickly, and the correct armor bonus for your stage of progression.
| Build Element | Leveling Benefit |
|---|---|
| Scatter on a Bow | Expands Scatter from its standard 180-degree fan to 270 degrees at R3 or 360 degrees at R5, allowing an Archer to cover much more of a spawn. |
| ScatterDMG on an Archer Plume | Raises Scatter damage against monsters by 10% at R3 or 25% at R5, helping wide attacks kill efficiently instead of merely tagging more targets. |
| Snow on a Wand | Adds 3 blocks of radius at R3 or 6 blocks at R5. |
| StrandedMonster on a Halbert | Adds 2 blocks of radius at R3 or 4 blocks at R5. |
| Rage on a Club | Adds 2 blocks of range at R3 or 4 blocks at R5. |
| Fire Tao AoE on a Backsword | Adds 2 blocks to FireOfHell and Inferno at R3 or 4 blocks at R5. This trades 10% or 20% damage from Thunder, Fire, Tornado, and Pervade for the larger farming radius. |
| LvlBelow130 on a level 1 or level 12 Coat/Dress | Provides 25% more monster EXP at R3 or 50% more at R5 while below level 130. Because these low-level armors can be equipped near the beginning of a leveling run, the bonus can influence almost the entire 1–129 journey. |
| Level on an eligible Coat/Dress | After level 130, adds Kill Exchange progress to every eligible kill instead of increasing normal EXP. |
A larger radius is only valuable when the character can survive the pull and kill the additional targets quickly. Match the Magical or Physical HealthWine Zone to your defenses, then choose the floor and spawn density your build can clear consistently.
Several class skills have been adjusted to make dense-spawn leveling smoother. Some attacks now have a larger AoE radius, while others have been changed from restrictive single-target or stamina-based behavior into more practical farming tools.
For the fastest results, test your class skills against the two large spawns on each HealthWine Grotto floor and compare the EXP or kills-per-minute HUD before committing to a long session.
The HealthWine Zone controller provides dedicated high-density leveling areas modeled after the Frozen Grotto floors. Each Grotto floor has two huge monster spawns, giving players plenty of targets and space for efficient EXP grinding.
Contains monsters that deal magical damage. Choose this version when your equipment and defenses are better suited to magical attacks.
Contains monsters that deal physical damage. Choose this version when your equipment and defenses are better suited to physical attacks.
These are normal EXP leveling zones. From level 130 onward, Kill Exchange progress must be earned in an approved Kill Exchange area listed below.
Each task is for one level. Progress is recorded separately for each approved map; completing the requirement in any one eligible map finishes the task.
The task begins with a base requirement that rises every five levels. Archer and Fire Taoist use the full base amount, while other supported classes receive a lower class-adjusted requirement.
| Class | Requirement Compared with Base | Example at Level 130 |
|---|---|---|
| Archer | Full base requirement | 500,000 kills |
| Fire Taoist | Full base requirement | 500,000 kills |
| Water Taoist | 75% of base | 375,000 kills |
| Trojan | 50% of base | 250,000 kills |
| Warrior | 50% of base | 250,000 kills |
The full base begins at 500,000 for the level 130–134 interval and increases by 500,000 for every new five-level interval, reaching 12,500,000 for level 250–254 before class adjustment and Renown discounts.
As your level rises, lower Frozen Grotto floors and other earlier zones stop counting. The yellow task HUD only appears while you are inside an approved area.
| Task Interval | Approved Areas |
|---|---|
| 130–169 | Frozen Grotto floors 1–6, Sea of Thieves, Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 170–184 | Frozen Grotto floors 2–6, Sea of Thieves, Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 185–204 | Frozen Grotto floors 3–6, Sea of Thieves, Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 205–229 | Frozen Grotto floors 5–6, Sea of Thieves, Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 230–239 | Frozen Grotto floors 5–6, Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 240–244 | Beach Map, Frozen Hideout |
| 245–255 | Frozen Hideout only |
Active Renown status for the map where you perform the task reduces the number of kills required. These discounts apply in Frozen Grotto, Sea of Thieves, Beach Map, and Frozen Hideout.
| Active Renown Status | Required-Kill Discount |
|---|---|
| Unattained | 10% fewer kills |
| Legendary | 8% fewer kills |
| Prestigious | 6% fewer kills |
| Rising Star | 4% fewer kills |
| Respected | 2% fewer kills |
Upgrade the relevant map’s Renown status before beginning your task. Renown status cannot be upgraded while a level kill task is active. Use /checkrps to view your regional Renown Points.
KillTokens and KillScrolls temporarily increase how much task progress an eligible monster kill awards. They can only be activated during an active Kill Exchange task.
| Multiplier | KillToken Duration | KillScroll Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 2x | 2 hours | 1 hour |
| 3x | 2 hours | 1 hour |
| 4x | 1 hour | 30 minutes |
| 5x | 1 hour | 30 minutes |
| 10x | 1 hour | 30 minutes |
The Level imbuement is applied to an eligible Coat or Dress and adds extra task progress to every eligible kill. It works alongside the one active KillToken or KillScroll.
| Imbuement | Additional Progress per Eligible Kill |
|---|---|
| Level[R3] | +1 additional kill progress |
| Level[R5] | +3 additional kill progress |
Level and LvlBelow130 are different armor imbuements: LvlBelow130 boosts normal EXP before 130, while Level boosts Kill Exchange progress from level 130 onward.
If another player kills you while an active Kill Exchange task is subject to penalties, you lose a random portion of your accumulated task progress. The loss ranges from 0.01% to 2.00%, with a minimum loss of one kill whenever you have progress to lose.
